Julia Childs: Shelby and Kenzie

For your comments on Presentations:

First, write about something well done.  What did you learn from this group?  What part of the Presentation seemed the best?  Be specific, and use a specific example from the Presentation and your notes.

Second, offer constructive criticism that would help this group. What might have been more clear?  What part of the Presentation seemed the least polished?  Be specific.

  1. I think Shelby and Kenzie did a great job introducing Julia Child to us. Most people in the class didn't know who she was before this presentation. Something I think they did well was showing us that clip from her show about her most famous moments. They mentioned she was corky and funny but the video really put it in perspective for us. Something I think they could've polished up on was relaying back in forth the information, it wasn't very organized. Over all very good presentation though.

  2. I was not aware of Julia Child before this presentation and they did a great job of explaining things about her and how she broke the mold of women in the 1940's. The best part of the presentation was all the quotes they had and the video. They talked a lot about how funny she was and those things really helped show this. Something they could work on is the intro of the presentation. They just started talking about facts instead of having a clear intro.

  3. I have never heard of Julia Childs before your presentation. The video clip you showed was prefect! I think this was a good thing to show because it really showed us the crazy, relatable personality that Julia had. In your presentation when you mentioned that on her show she made mistakes when cooking and that was relatable for viewers, the clip you showed help prove that to us. Also, providing cookies for the class is always a bonus! And you both seemed to know your information; good work.

In terms of constructive criticism, I would have liked to know a bit more about what started Julia's dream/career in cooking. Who, if any, were her inspirations/role models? Did she have a dream/vision?

  4. Amazing job bringing in cookies for your presentation, also you did a good job at letting us know how cool Julia Childs was and her personality just came through with your presentation.

It would have been nice to know more about how she started off but overall it was a really good presentation.

  5. This presentation was really interesting. I'm not really very interesting in cooking, but Julia seemed to make it fun even for people with limited skill. I thought the conclusion did a very good job of summarizing the information and had a nice clear end.
It could have been improved by having a clearer introduction, more like the conclusion.

  6. The comedic energy that this presentation had made it very easy to stay engaged. I loved the video that you chose, because it really demonstrated Julia's personality well. I think that she was so well liked because of the fact that she was relatable and was proud to be imperfect, so I liked that you touched on this. In the future, I would give a more clear theme, and ending. (Cookies were delicious!)

  7. I enjoyed this presentation greatly! The video was amazing and truly showed Julia's character and personality. One thing I noticed that could be worked on was preparing for the presentation a little better. Some parts seemed like you were just reading off the notecard and did not truly know what you were talking about. Otherwise, great presentation, and great energy behind the deliverance of the presentation.

  8. I liked the presenter's powerpoint, the quotes and video helped show how funny Julia was. They were well prepared and took turns speaking. It would have been helpful if the presenters gave more insight on who Julia Childs was. Also, some parts of the presentation maybe needed a little more depth, as opposed to only facts.

  9. What I enjoyed most about your presentation was that, more than just giving us information, you gave us a view of her personality which was just great.

There were some parts where you didn't seem rehearsed in your information, but overall it was very good.

  10. I LOVE COOKIES! So thank you. I think that maybe like Sam said you could've been more rehearsed but it was great!

  11. The presentation was well planned out and the cookies added more meaning to the overall presentation. I learned more about Julia from your presentation than I ever did on the internet. Who inspired Julia to go into cooking?

  12. I loved the facts that you had and how you used them. I also thought baking the cookies was really creative and I liked how you tied that together with her being a baker. One thing I think would be better is if you tried to bounce back more while your presenting! Overall really good job!

  13. What I learned about this presentation was how Julia Child broke the expiation for women in the 1940s. I wish you would have shown a little more of the video so we could better understand her.

  14. I think you guys did really well on your presentation. You guys knew a lot about her and really touched with the cookies. I think one or two more videos would have really gave us a good perspective of her. Maybe a video with her talking about her passion would be really cool. Good job guys.

  15. I really enjoyed how you provided her accomplishments and how she was breaking barriers at the time. You made her seem like a very likable and entertaining person. I think that her vision could have been more clear but you guys did a great job!
