Practice Profile: Matt Elwer

Taylor Showing her love for farming with an
added Snapchat filter for comedic relief.
When I set down with Taylor Bahan at The Ohio State University at Marion, she was more than excited to tell me why she was going to college and why she had changed her major. At first she had a vision to major in biology but decided that she now wanted to major in Agronomy to have more wisdom about continuing her family's farm. Her farm was started by her grandfather. You could say that he was the original visionary in their family. Her grandfather also had a story to tell about when he almost went bankrupt twice but in the end he saved his farm and made a legacy that is passed down from generation to generation. Taylor also mentioned that she had a huge influence from the organization Future Farmers of America (FFA). In her meetings there would be a jar that anyone there would put loose change into and then the money would be used for random acts of kindness in the community. During her senior year just one week before graduation one of her classmates drowned and died. She and the other members of FFA decided to donated all their money from the jar to the family of the drowned senior to help pay for funeral costs. It is nice to see that good things always come out of bad situations and gives everyone a better outlook on the future of the world.

  1. That is so cool that she wants to know more about her family's farm and continuing the farm when she graduates. She is a visionary and has a vision for the farm and to make sure it continues to grow and keep going down the right path. It is so neat that her grandfather did not give up. He had a dream and he worked hard to accomplish it that way he could leave his legacy and pass it down from generation to generation.

  2. This profile is very touching to me. I can see her love for farming. I have a small little farm with a few ducks and a small garden. What was really touching was that they donated the money to help the family of a former classmate who died. There are still caring people in this world and she was one of them.

  3. I liked reading about Taylor! This profile shows her caring personality and her passion for agriculture. My favorite part along with the donation to family who lost their child, is the part about her grandfather who seems like a man that holds the value of giving up isn't an option and I appreciate that, very much so.
