Profile Practice: Kristen Orewiler

Don't just fit in; Stand out

Andrew Joseph is a junior at The Ohio State University Marion. Andrew is majoring in communications and is very interested in learning history and also the people who helped create it. Some visionaries in history that impacted him the most have been the musicians mainly in the 70s like Jim Morrison. Andrew thinks that Jim Morrison was very transcendent and it was interesting to Andrew that he even called himself the “Lizard King”.  Jim Morrison later died in Italy due to choking on his own vomit, but that’s not why Andrew admired him, he really liked how different he was and he didn’t care what other people thought of him. Andrew loved that Jim Morrison created his own image. Lana De Ray is another singer Andrew admires from the present day. She has a good idea of how America is and how it also could be. Andrew thinks that we should learn from the past and make that present in our future. When it comes to leaders, Andrew believes we need leaders with futuristic visionary. He doesn’t think we need a leader with his heads in the clouds. “I feel we need a leader who looks at what was behind us”, Andrew says. “We need someone who looks at the past to see what will work and what we need to fix but with that being said, we need to amplify it without changing it dramatically too quickly.” Andrew was watching an interview and loved it because this man said, “Life’s like an arrow, and once you shoot you cannot go forward without going back.”  This quote is something Andrew likes to live by.

  1. I thought that this blog was interesting and I can definitely relate to Andrew. I enjoyed the details of this blog and the message it sends. The picture and caption really sums up the blog of being unique and that really resonates with many people. I feel like the end of the blog post is abrupt and would love to see it written with a little more closure.
