Profile Practice - Andrew Joseph

Kristen Orewiler is a junior at The Ohio State University. She is a twenty-one-year-old woman who has a great insight on the world as we see it today.

Kristen making plans to take over the world, or just going over the assignment. One of the two.

Kristen sits on a stool in the hallway and tells me about the visionary from history, Martin Luther King Jr. At a young age she was taught all about him and it essentially changed her life. Now being grown she holds the life value that we should all move as one rather than individuals. Because of the famous “I Have a Dream” speech, being such a primal and relevant part of history, she also gains the view that “…We can live in a world of color rather than one that is black and white.”
Kristen gives insight to an experience that had made her change the way she looks at the world. In the Summer of 2015 her and her family took a trip to the Nations Capitol, Washington DC. She says, “I didn’t want to go at first, but once I got there it would turn out to be one of the greatest experiences I have ever had.” She recounts the trip as she remembers it in both positive and negative aspects. One of the negatives that she remembers is seeing the politicians in their natural state, she remembers it being unappealing seeing how they are behind the scenes. Although she does say, “The richness of history is why I love it there. And why I think it changed my life.” She thinks that history and learning both the positive and the negative impacts we learn about can shape the future and what we see today.

  1. I think the way that you set the scene for this interview was great. I like that you included an experience that showed how she had a change in the way she looked at the world. I think this is important because the way we look at things are constantly changing!
